I’m excited to run for re-election to the Fremont City Council.
My 200 word candidate statement is below.
I have been proud to serve on the Fremont City Council for the last four years. Once again, I will not be taking campaign contributions from developers, real estate interests, or other special interests. I believe it is an unacceptable conflict of interest to take money from people who do business with the City. This practice has led to budget decisions that force us to cut city services and the approval of poorly planned housing developments that cause traffic congestion and overtaxed infrastructure. I believe we must put our community’s needs first, ahead of the greed of developers and other special interests. I have a law degree from Yale and a Masters in City Planning from UC Berkeley. I worked for 11 years as a city planner and economic development professional, helping to create a transit village near the Fruitvale BART station and managing a Business Improvement District and Main Street program. For the last 16 years, I’ve been a small business owner, practicing small business law. My top priorities are addressing homelessness, supporting small business, and protecting our environment. I would be honored to have your vote. For more information visit www.kassan4fremont.com.
